Canon EOS 600d, where have you been all my life?!

I recently treated myself to the canon 600d and can't believe how amazing it is. I made do with my lumix camera for a long time, hoping a fairy would leave a swanky new camera under my pillow. Finally I realized that wasn't going to happen, so I had no choice but to go out and treat myself. There is so much to learn and I'm definitely having lots of fun snapping away. I'm loving playing around in black and white and pretty chuffed with the details on the blue tits and bumble bee. This is definitely money well spent!

My week in pictures. Week One!

Eating out in a stylish retro family run cafe, @ Eat Play Love on Battersea Park Road.
The deco is pretty cool with quirky areas to sit, eat and chat or simply hang out and read a book.
Enjoying my first 'proper' beef burger. What an amazing gluten free eating experience @ Honest Burger.
Drinking a ridiculous amount of coffee to 'do things faster with more energy'.
Flicking through my growing collection of sewing and craft books for new ideas.
Pssst...My daughter was the stylist for 'The Great British Sewing Bee' book.
Popping into my local garden centre, Battersea Flower Station, SW11's own little paradise full of beauty and magic! The owners and staff are always smiling, happy, welcoming and very helpful.
Creating delicious quick and simple gluten free meals.
Thinly slice Mattessons Original smoked pork sausage and fry in a little olive oil until lightly browned. Add thinly sliced onions and stir in a huge dollop of caramelized onion chutney.
Finally, add precooked gluten free pasta, mix until completely coated and piping hot.
Serve immediately and enjoy!

I recently treated myself to a new camera, Canon 600D and wow, I'm totally in love. There's so much to learn and I'm slowly finding my way around the different settings, but what a difference it's made already. Luckily I have the rest of my Summer holiday (the joys of working in a school) to practice and get to grips with my new toy.

My daughter and I have recently started a mother/daughter blog, Barri & Belle, sharing our life living in Battersea. Do pop over and have a look around to see what we get up to.
Have a fabulous weekend!

time goes by too fast

A week ago I celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday by throwing her a surprise party. Jazmine has worked so hard, over the past few years, as a freelance fashion/craft stylist and personal style blogger and I'm so proud of everything she has achieved. Last year she styled 'Learn to Knit, Love to Knit' by new knitwear designer Anna Wilkinson and most recently she styled 'The Great British Sewing Bee, as a tie in for the BBC2 series. She was chosen to work as a stylist on the shoot for Rizzle Kicks’ upcoming music video, a few weeks ago, alongside their personal stylist. With her great determination and attention to detail she will definitely go far in her life.

Instead of buying a birthday card I embroidered one of Jazmine's favourite quotes, "I don't want to be alone, I want to be left alone" Audrey Hepburn, onto a wooden embroidery ring as a keepsake.
Wishing Jazmine every success for the year ahead xx
